ISQGD volunteers assist with communication, scheduling, registration guidance, publicity, and the development of Mathematics Club activities for this regional schedule. Undergraduate and Graduate Mathematics Club
College / University Level
The Undergraduate and Graduate Mathematics Club provides a broad academic forum for research and expository presentations, reading groups, graduate preparation, collaboration, academic networking, and interdisciplinary mathematical exchange. To help students and volunteers connect more naturally with their own areas of interest, the Eastern Hemisphere activities are organized around four broad mathematical subject groups.
Interested in giving a talk or volunteering? Students, faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and other interested participants are encouraged to contact an ISQGD volunteer associated with the subject area closest to their interests. The four groups are broad academic umbrellas within one unified Undergraduate and Graduate Mathematics Club.
Four Major Subject Groups & Colloquium Talks
The Undergraduate and Graduate Mathematics Club provides opportunities for research and expository presentations across a broad spectrum of mathematics. Activities are organized through four major subject groups for focused mathematical areas, together with Colloquium Talks for presentations designed to engage the wider undergraduate and graduate mathematics community.
Algebra, Number Theory & Discrete Mathematics
Algebra, number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, discrete mathematics, coding-related mathematics, and related areas.
Real and complex analysis, functional analysis, ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical analysis, approximation theory, and related areas.
Colloquium Talks highlight broad ideas, connections, and perspectives across mathematics. They may include accessible introductions to important areas, connections among fields, major ideas and open problems, historical perspectives with contemporary relevance, mathematical applications, or introductions to a speaker’s research area. These talks may draw from one or more subject groups and are designed for a broad undergraduate and graduate audience.
Mathematical enrichment, recreational mathematics, history and culture of mathematics, puzzles, Vedic Mathematics, public communication, and lifelong learning.
