Author Guidelines

The ISQGD Journal of Mathematical Heritage (JMH) welcomes original scholarly contributions related to mathematical heritage, historical mathematical traditions, ancient and classical mathematics, mathematical manuscripts, pedagogy, cultural transmission, and related interdisciplinary studies.

JMH publishes original research articles, survey papers, expository contributions, historical investigations, translations and studies of mathematical texts, pedagogical studies, and interdisciplinary research.

Authors should ensure that their manuscript:

  • is original and has not been published previously;
  • is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal;
  • falls within the aims and scope of JMH;
  • is clearly written and presented in a scholarly manner;
  • provides appropriate citations and complete bibliographic information;
  • clearly identifies the contribution and significance of the work;
  • appropriately acknowledges sources, translations, archival materials, images, and other third-party content, where applicable; and
  • complies with accepted standards of academic integrity and publication ethics.

Manuscripts should include an informative title, a clear and concise abstract, and appropriate keywords.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of quotations, translations, references, historical information, mathematical notation, and all other material included in their submission.

All submissions are subject to initial editorial screening. Manuscripts considered appropriate for the journal may proceed to peer review.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm that their submission complies with the following requirements:

  • The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not currently under consideration by another journal.
  • The manuscript falls within the aims and scope of the ISQGD Journal of Mathematical Heritage (JMH).
  • All authors have read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript.
  • Complete and accurate author names, affiliations, and other required contributor information have been provided.
  • The manuscript includes an appropriate title, abstract, keywords, and references.
  • Citations and bibliographic references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All borrowed text, translations, illustrations, tables, figures, archival materials, and other third-party content are appropriately acknowledged.
  • All necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted or third-party material.
  • The manuscript complies with accepted standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and responsible scholarship.
  • Any relevant conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • The submitting author is authorized to communicate with the journal on behalf of all co-authors.

Articles

This section publishes original research articles, survey articles, expository studies, and scholarly investigations related to mathematical heritage, including ancient and historical mathematics, mathematical traditions, manuscripts, classical methods, and related interdisciplinary studies. Submissions to this section are subject to editorial assessment and peer review in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies.

By publishing in the ISQGD Journal of Mathematical Heritage (JMH), authors grant the journal the right of first publication. Articles published in JMH are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, others may share, reproduce, distribute, and adapt the published work for any lawful purpose, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s), the license is identified, and any changes made to the original work are indicated.

Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal’s published version of their work, provided that the original publication in JMH is properly acknowledged.
